As a new Sr UX Designer at Columbia Sportswear, I spearheaded the redesign of the global navigation system for columbia.com. The objective was to enhance the user experience, catering to a diverse global audience while reflecting the brand's commitment to innovation and adventure.
The existing navigation faced challenges in accommodating the extensive product range and diverse customer needs. We needed to create a seamless and flexible experience that facilitated easy exploration of products, considered regional preferences and ensured a consistent brand image.
Designing a global nav is so much more than just making a bar with some links that sits at the top of the site. Not only is it the gateway into an organization's entire digital presence, but its an inherently political project that affects every vertical of an organization, all the way up to senior leadership. Being able to pull off an effective solution is truly a cross-functional challenge and one that I am proud to have accomplished.
